Birch Bay

Cameron and I took Clementine to the beach for the first time on Sunday. She's on the fence about going to the beach. She seemed to like looking at the suntanned people and watching the sparkling water but mostly from a distance. At a distance and a 6'4 height.

Her excitement is evident by the look on her face in this picture. This sums up our whole afternoon:
Does she look excited or what???!! Holy cow!

She stood in the water for just a few seconds then refused to put her feet back in. I think she was confused--the water was warm like a bathtub so maybe she wanted to sit and play in it?? Who knows!
The tide started to come in (quickly) so we decided to watch the waves back on dry ground.

My new favorite:

VRRROOOOOM

It's been two weeks since I updated our blog! I have a good excuse though--nearly all of our recent pictures are just a Clementine shaped blur as she whizzes on by!

It usually starts like this:

Then she decided to find some paper to chew on:

Back to mom to see if she can yank the camera out of my hands:

I have discovered that putting her inside of something--say a toy bin--can sometimes do the trick! At least now we can tell who we are looking at!

But she still likes to try to grab the camera from my hands

"Look what I can do!"

Clementine is suddenly becoming more like a little girl and less and less like a little baby! She is crazy active (just like she was in the womb) and rarely sits still (or is quiet) anymore.

Here's what she can do now:
1. Crawl forward (finally!) after mastering crawling backward
2. Stand up holding on to the couch, crib, chairs, my hair, etc.
3. Say "Mama" and "MOMMMMM!!!!"
4. Get to the sitting position from crawling or laying down
5. Sleep *mostly* through the night
6. Turn pages of a book
7. Pull the lever of her See 'n Say
8. Push buttons to turn things off and on (especially her crib Aquarium--see?)

9. Hold her bottle when she eats
10. Climb Cameron and me using our clothes to pull on
11. Splash and play in the bath
12. Seek out Jack to play with (poor Jack)
13. Understand the sign for "All Done"when the food runs out and start screaming
14. Flip over her Bumbo seat
15. Give hugs and kisses (Clementine even loves to "kiss" the baby in the mirror!)

Still no hair or teeth but there is a sharp nub in her mouth that has been working it's way through for about 3 weeks. Teething has been trying on ALL of us!

Here are a few pictures of Sissy and Clementine from a couple weeks ago.

Isn't Sissy such a natural?

Clementine looks so comfortable and content.

It's a good thing Sissy knows babies....CAUSE SHE'S HAVING ONE! In January she'll be a mama, Clementine will be a cousin and I'll be an auntie! Whoo HOO!

Happy 4th of July!

We're going all patriotic this year! Jack's got his stars and stripes bandana, Clem has her red white and blue sun dress and I made some flag cupcakes to take to Cam at work! I love holidays!!

We're having a nice bit of warm weather here in the PNW so we decided to head to the park one particularly warm day.

Clem's adorably skeptical about this adventure

Soaking the tootsies

Who's having more fun here?

We discovered that there isn't a whole lot to do at a park with an 8 month old. She's too little to swing or play on the toys with the other kids. She didn't mind though, Clementine was happy just to watch all the people playing in the water.

Mama's Little Helper

Clementine LOVES to *help* me with my chores. I figure this is going to really pay off in like two years! I'm grooming her.
Anyway, she has started mimicking me and it's hilarious.

While I fold laundry, she always sits with me and *helps* with the socks. She picks them up one by one, shakes the sock then sets it down to pick up another. Sometimes I like to stick the socks on her hands and watch to see how she gets out of that situation; that's SUPER hilarious!

On this day I tried to catch her folding her stack of socks so I kept the camera on my lap.

Shaking out the sock

Wait a minute....
She certainly didn't get this from ME! (That's clean by the way!)

She continued folding her stack of socks with this CLEAN one in her mouth. I couldn't get a still picture though because I was laughing so hard.

And yes, she does wear that onesie at least three days a week. It's my favorite.
